Fleas, Ticks and Earmite Medication

Advantage is a topical flea control that is applied once a month between the shoulder blades. This medication will kill 98-100% of fleas on the pet within 12 hours and larval flea stages will be killed if they come in contact with the treated pet. It is well tolerated in cats and dogs and is safe to use on puppies and kittens as early as 7 weeks of age and is one of our most popular products. This medication will remain effective even after a bath or swimming. Advantage works very well on fleas but does not affect ticks.

Advantage Multi: Kills Fleas, Heartworms and Earmites: It is a topical multipurpose heartworm and flea preventative and is very similar to Revolution. It can be used on dogs and cats and is applied once a month between the shoulder blades.

Comfortis is a once a month pill for flea control administered orally. Although a little more expensive than Advantage or Frontline our client feedback tells us that this is one of our most effective products and it is very safe. It is recommended for use on dogs and puppies at least 12 weeks old. It must be given with a meal and can be used along with other flea and tick medications.

Frontline Plus is a topical flea and tick medication, applied once a month between the shoulder blades. It can be applied once monthly but a single dose can remain effective for flea control for up to three months and it also kills flea eggs. For tick control it should be applied once a month. It is well tolerated in dogs and cats and even pregnant females and is safe to use on puppies and kittens as early as 8 weeks of age. It is one of our most popular products. This medication will remain effective even after a bath or swimming.

Advantix is a monthly topical medication with all the benefits of Advantage but additionally it also kills ticks and also repells mosquitoes. The ability to repell mosquitos can provide a significant comfort for your pet. This product can only be used on dogs 12 weeks and older and is not to be used on cats.

Capstar is a once-daily oral flea treatment for use on both dogs and cats and can be used on pets as young as 6 weeks of age. Although Capstar only works for 24 hours, it is very effective in killing fleas and works within 30 minutes.

Certifect is a topical flea and tick medication with Amatraz which speeds up how quickly ticks are killed, by forcing the tick move through the medication on the hair. It is the same as Frontline with just the addition of the Amatraz. The Amatraz in Certifect may also help in the treatment of Demodectic Mange.

Preventic Collars can kill ticks for up to 3 months. The medication in the collar will paralyze the tick’s mouth causing the tick to die and eventually fall off. The Preventic collar is for use on dogs 12 weeks and older. This product can be used with some other flea medications. This is one of our most cost effective and simpliest forms of tick control and is a very popular product.

Acarexx is a prescription medication that is applied directly in each ear to kill ear mites.

Revolution: Kills Fleas, Ticks, Heartworms and Earmites. It is a topical multipurpose heartworm and flea preventative that can be used on dogs and cats. Skin Mange- Scabies, Demodex and Ringworm

Sarcoptic Mange: Contagious to pets and people. Also called “Scabies”. This is easily treated with Revolution Topical and Ivermectin and can be fully cured.

Demodex Mange: Non contagious, inherited from the mother and treated with Amatraz, which is found in Certifect flea control and Mitoban Dip. Either of these two products will assist in elminating the Demodex Mange.

Ringworm: Contagious to pets and people. This is a fungal infection of the skin, and is treated with a variety of oral anti-fungal drugs and medicated shampoos. It can usually be completely cured.
