Michael C. Becker, DVM
Dr. Becker is originally from St. Louis, Mo, and attended the University of Missouri, at Columbia, Missouri from 1975 to 1983 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Becker worked for 2 1/2 years in Las Vegas, Nevada, and in San Antonio, TX. He enjoyed the friendliness of Texans so much that he established his practice in San Antonio on West Ave. in February of 1986. In 2007 he saw the need for expansion and broke ground on the new facility, which opened in December 2009. Dr. Becker and his practice strive to provide quality veterinary care that is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day with no appointment necessary as well as ancillary services in the way of pet boarding and grooming. He regularly attends the Western States Vet Conference to further his veterinary skills and various business classes in the areas of Administration and Management.
Obiageli Okafor, DVM
Dr. Okafor joined our hospital on August 30th 2010. She was born in Nigeria and practiced veterinary medicine there for 15 years. She has been practicing in the US since 2005. She started by working for 5 years for Banfield Hospital in Houston TX, and has now joined our team in San Antonio and enjoys the challenges of working the evening and the late night shift. She is an accomplished surgeon and is also very skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of small animals and gets very good results with pets rapidly returned to their health and well being. In addition to medicine, surgery and dentistry, Dr Okafor is an accomplished emergency clinician and surgeon.
Mircea Volosen, DVM
Dr Micrea Volosen attended and graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. He has been practicing as a veterinarian since 1983 and exclusively in Texas since 1992. He is an accomplished emergency care physician and very skilled in medicine and surgery. Some of our most involved and complicated surgeries are performed by Dr Volosen and his positive and optimistic attitude has resulted in excellent recoveries for many severely ill and traumatized pets. He has a special interest in orthopedics and exotic animals. Dr. Volosen loves to work with animals and is married with two children and his numerous pets in the way of dogs, cats, rabbits, and chickens.
Sarah Pittman, DVM
Dr. Pittman has been a San Antonio resident since the age of 8 years, and is happy to come back home to practice. She graduated from the University of Texas, Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Texas A and M University in 2010. She is a very caring and talented doctor in medicine and surgery who enjoys the challenges of emergency animal care as well as routine wellness care and has the opportunity to do both by working the evening and overnight shift at Becker Animal Hospital and Pet Resort. Dr. Pittman has 2 dogs, a greyhound mix named Sampson, a white pit bull named Buddy and a kitty named Pumpkin. All 3 of these pets were rescue adoptions and they get along great. She enjoys walking and hiking in Eisenhower Park with the dogs, spending time with her family, and playing the piano. Dr. Pittman enjoys working with people and their pets and always has a kind word for both.
Mina Youssef, DVM
Dr. Youssef has been practicing as a veterinarian since 2002 in Egypt, and then came to the United States and graduated from the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 and since has been practicing as a small animal veterinarian in San Antonio. He joined our staff as a full time veterinarian in July of 2010. He is a very accomplished medical doctor and surgeon. He enjoys working with all the pets and their owners and is very popular with the dogs! He has a cat named Ozzie, and loves to play the guitar, tennis, swimming and soccer. Dr Youssef married in January of 2011 and lives in San Antonio with his wife. Dr. Youssef likes the challenges of working at Becker Animal Hospital and Pet Resort, making customers and their pets happy and healthy and dealing with the complex medical and surgical cases. “The staff and the environment here are very good, and I like to take care of pets as members of their human family” said Dr.Youssef.
Ravikumar Killi, DVM
Becker Animal Hospital and Pet Resort is pleased to welcome Dr. Ravikumar Killi as its sixth full time Veterinarian for the exclusive practice of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Killi received his initial Veterinary Medical Degree in Bhubaneswar India, and has since received an advanced degree in Veterinary Infectious Diseases from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia, in Athens, Georgia and has gone on to complete a one year clinical rotation program at the Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Killi loves Texas and since completing his studies in June of 2010 he has practiced at an Emergency and Critical Care facility in Fort Worth and has spent the last 7 months in Austin in a Small Animal exclusive practice. Dr. Killi has an interest in all aspects of animal medicine, and wants to focus on involved medical cases and work toward advanced training in orthopedic surgery. His love for pets was fostered at an early age with his pet Pomeranian, Julie.With the support and encouragement from his family he completed his studies in India and the United States and is very excited to be surrounded by a great veterinary team at Becker Animal Hospital and to be part of one of the best equipped Veterinary Hospitals in Texas.
Raj Banga, DVM
Dr. Banga received his DVM degree from Punjab Agricultural University and an advanced degree in Veterinary Medicine from the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, GBPUAT, in Pantnagar, India. He has many years of clinical experience in India, Grenada and the United States. He also has been an excellent educator, and served as an Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean of Students in School of Veterinary Medicine at the St. George’s University, Grenada. He received several awards and honors for his contributions to the Profession of Veterinary Medicine. Dr Banga believes in providing the best service and doing the best for the pets. He is very passionate about the emergency medicine and diagnostic imaging. He likes to spend time with her daughter and he also enjoys the swimming, horse back riding and learning new technologies.
Allison Edwards, DVM
Dr. Edwards studied veterinary medicine at Alabama’s Auburn University, where she received her
doctorate of veterinary medicine degree, cum laude, in May 2012.
