Dr. Daniel Arrington – Becker Animal Hospital’s Veterinary Medical Director – graduated from the Ross University College of Veterinary Medicine at St. Kitts, in the Caribbean in September 2010, receiving his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Arrington completed a one-year clinical rotation at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in College Station before graduating, and has worked for 3-1/2 years in Corpus Christi TX. Dr. Arrington grew up on a dairy farm in Maryland, and developed a love of pets and an interest in medicine through the family dairy farming experience. He attended undergraduate college in Maryland on a track and field scholarship, and still maintains a high interest in running, as well as spending time at work and with his family.
Dr. Brown is an experienced veterinarian who has practiced in Midland TX since 2008. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, graduating with highest honors, at Ross University in St. Kitts in the Caribbean. Among her other duties at Tall City Veterinary Hospital of Midland was the handling of all animal rescues.
Dr. Mermagya Dhakal is an experienced veterinarian from his native country of Nepal, who served not only as a private practitioner, but also as an officer of Nepal’s Department of Livestock Services before coming to the United States to continue his education for a U.S. veterinary certification. Since his arrival in the United States, he has received advanced degrees from the Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, the University of Missouri, Columbia’s, School of Medicine, and the College of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo.
Dr. Ziegler grew up in the small town of Celina, Ohio. She later moved to Columbus, where she obtained her veterinary degree at Ohio State University. After graduating in 2014, she started working at a small animal emergency clinic in Columbus. There, she developed a passion for critical care medicine and soft tissue surgery. She is enjoying the change in climate in San Antonio as well as joining the Becker Animal Hospital team. She hopes to further strengthen her emergency medicine skills as she continues to practice in the beautiful state of Texas! She currently lives with her two cats, Romeo and Juliet. She enjoys horseback riding, painting and playing the piano.
Dr. Katie Shea grew up in upstate New York in the small town of Watervliet. As soon as she could obtain a job it was in the veterinary field where she has been a kennel assistant, a receptionist and a technician. She attended SUNY Albany for her undergraduate degree in Biology. Her next step was moving to the small island of St. Kitts for veterinary school at Ross University where she graduated with highest honors. Dr. Shea has strong interests in emergency medicine and client communication.
Outside of veterinary medicine Dr. Shea enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with friends and family. She is currently living in San Antonio with her Papillon, Jake, and her two island rescue “Coconut Retrievers,” Jackson and Carib

Dr. Charlie Faircloth is originally from Covington, Kentucky, where he grew up and attended high school and college. He graduated from Centre College, earning a major in physics and playing football as an offensive lineman. His first job in the veterinary field was as a veterinary assistant at a small animal clinic in Kentucky. He also has gained approximately 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical development prior to veterinary school, both in technical and managerial roles. Dr. Faircloth attained his veterinary degree from Ross University, and completed his clinical studies at Oklahoma State University. He has had a strong passion for helping animals throughout his life, and also enjoys singing or playing his drums, going for a walk with his girlfriend and their dogs, and watching his favorite NFL and NBA teams.
Dr. Peter Mosites received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in 2015 and completed a one year clinical rotation at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Mosites enjoys working with a variety of animals and has a special interest in the fields of exotics, surgery, and dermatology. In his spare time, Dr. Mosites enjoys traveling the world, riding motorcycles, nerding out, and, of course, singing karaoke.
Dr. Reina Hagstrom was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. After graduating from high school, Dr, Hagstrom decided to move to the USA and obtained Bachelor of Animal Science from University of Idaho. Dr. Hagstrom attended veterinary school at Ross University in St. Kitts, West Indies, and finished a one-year clinical rotation at Murdoch University in Australia. Dr. Hagstrom has special interests in surgery, dentistry, exotic animals, fish medicine and especially in marine mammals. In her free time, she likes to travel, spend times with friends, and to do various sports activities and Zumba. Dr. Hagstrom moved to San Antonio with her German Shepherd Mix “Flurry” and both are enjoying the nice weather and getting to know the city.
Dan Tzur, DVM
Dr. Tzur was born and raised in Santiago, Chile. He graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Chile. In addition to Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Tzur has worked in scientific research labs and clinical research. Dr. Tzur moved to San Antonio in June of 2017 to practice at the VCA Becker Animal Hospital & Pet Resort. Dr. Tzur is fluent in Spanish and English. In his spare time he loves to travel, hike and photograph nature. He is the owner of Buddy, a rescued Great Dane, and Lulu, a Turkish Van cat.
Dr. Qiang Li received his DVM from China Agricultural University. He obtained a PhD degree in Animal Science from the University of Georgia. He practiced in Indiana for 2 years and he just completed a 1 year rotating small animal internship at VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center. He like neurology, surgery and cytology. He currently lives with his wife and 3 kids (1 boy and 2 girls). When not working, he enjoys playing badminton, jogging, music, travel, food.
Becker Animal Hospital is pleased to announce its affiliation with Dr. Justin Harper, DACVS-LA of Texas Specialty Veterinary Services. Texas Specialty Veterinary Services has been serving the Texas Hill Country and San Antonio offering mobile surgery services for over 5 years. Dr. Harper, originally board certified in large animal surgery, now focuses nearly exclusively on small animal surgery. Dr. Harper and his team travels to our hospital and performs a variety of orthopedic and soft tissue surgical procedures on site. Dr. Harper has performed hundreds of surgeries to date, with consistent excellent results. We are please our clients have the option of orthopedic or soft tissue surgery done in house without needing to travel to a different location with their pet.
A graduate of Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, Dr. Harper completed an internship in Littleton, Colorado and a surgical residency at Auburn University in large animal surgery. After returning to the Texas Hill Country, Dr. Harper realized the need for specialty surgical services to be offered in-house to veterinarians and their clients. Dr. Harper currently resides in Boerne with his wife and two boys.
Becker Animal Hospital is pleased to announce its affiliation with Dr. Michelle Franklin of Texas Specialty Veterinary Services. Dr. Franklin’s practice is limited to surgery and works with Dr. Harper. Like Dr. Harper, Dr. Franklin will travel to our hospital and perform a variety of complex and involved surgical procedures on-site. Dr. Franklin has performed a number of surgeries at Becker Animal Hospital, all with excellent results.
After graduating veterinary school from Colorado State University, Dr. Franklin began her veterinary career working in a mixed animal practice in New Mexico. Following her time in private practice, she joined the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps in 2000 and spent 13 years in the Army serving numerous tours including overseas. While in the Army, Dr. Franklin entered her surgical residency program at Oklahoma State University and completed in 2008. After completing her residency, she spent another five years in the Army as a veterinary surgeon. While serving with the Army, she was Chief of Surgery for the Military Working Dog Hospital, Lackland AFB. In 2013, she joined the Texas Specialty Veterinary Services.
Becker Animal Hospital is pleased to announce its affiliation with Dr. Marty Henderson of SonoVet, Inc., a clinical sonographer and our on-call veterinary ultrasound diagnostician. Dr. Henderson will travel to our hospital and will provide on-site full diagnostic abdominal sonography and echocardiography with interpretation and recommendations, as well as fine-needle and tru-cut biopsies of internal organs and tissues. Dr. Henderson received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ohio State University in 1999.
