Yawning is known to be contagious – in some cases even hearing the word “yawn” has an effect on people. But did you know that a yawn could affect your dog as well?

A new study conducted by researchers at the University of Tokyo reports that some dogs do yawn in response to seeing their owners yawn.

While this report may seem trivial, it could end up assisting researchers who are looking into how dogs are able to understand humans – perhaps even giving a whole new meaning to “man’s best friend!”
